  • Why does FamilySearch say "Permission Required" after my ancestor's 110th birthday?

You may have noticed that after receiving a 110th birthday reminder email, FamilySearch still shows your ancestor as needing permission before the temple work can be requested. This error is known to FamilySearch and, while they're working on a fix, here's a simple workaround!

Step 1 Find your ancestor's page on FamilySearch. You'll notice that the ordinance status says "Permission Required"

Step 2 Make a change to any ancestor detail. Even just updating the reason for the change field is enough. Making a change to your ancestor will cause FamilySearch to recalculate the ordinance status for your ancestor.

Step 3 Return to your ancestor's ordinances page. You will see that the ordinances are now requestable.
